Fishing from Sailboat in Orange County - Advice?
#1
I'll be sailing with my dad this weekend up and down the OC Coast - from San Clemente to Long Beach. It looks like Calico are the most likely catch? I figure I'll try trolling much of the time... when I'm not, what's a good bait?

You might also want to try a rapala with the lip , try the small mackeral color. As Thor said you could get a bonita , barracuda or if your really lucky a yellowtail.Good luck see you on the water..Highlander MDR

Jack Archibald (Highlander)

Jack hopefully you dont respond to this message until Saturday or Sunday night. That way we would know your out in the water takin' it to the Halibut. This morning might be nice until the wicked winds come up. Once the wind starts it sounds like it could drift you to the Phillipines.

Booyaa To Ya'!
http://www.fishingclothes.com
Romero

Boo yah,
you got it went out this past Sunday, the wind was a problem in the morning, we tried up at paradise cove around the BKR area. Had a tank full of squid from Larry again, the water was 58.5 and was clear, but the drift was so fast away from the shore we could not stay on the bottom even using 6 ozs of weight. We moved in closer and tried fly lining squid in the kelp for about 2 hours only short calicos, nothing else.Moved down to my old hole at Topanga bubbles around 9:30 same story drifting out from the beach fast still using 5 ozs to get to the bottom.Around 11:00 the wind died completely, using 1oz with no drift, no wind and you guessed it , no fish .Talked with a few buds on the radio same story all over.Had Miguel on the Glasscutter(Shaws Marine) he fished Rocky Point and he was saying it was the same for him.No fish that day...Hey always next time. See you on the water

Jack Archibald (Highlander)
