Fishing in Whiskeytown Lake
#1
Just getting back into fishing after many years and I'm going up to Whiskey town lake on sept 2nd for 8 days. I've got no gear at all and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what I can expect to catch around that time so I can purchase appropriately.

I've been told what I catch is gonna be my meal and I'd like to eat [laugh]

Thanks

Hi John,
Essentially there are three different fishing methods.
[ol][li]Fly Fishing[/li][li]Spin "[/li][li]or Bait casting.[/li][/ol]
Which do you prefer?

Here is a report on Whiskeytown lake:
[#008000]The lake is not known for good fishing however there are plenty to catch. many people say the cold areas by the powerhouse are good trout areas and the rest is o.k. for bass. The good fishing in this area is at Shasta lake and at 365 miles of shore (yes 365 miles when full) there is lots of good places and many different species from bass to trout, salmon to sturgeon.[/#008000]
