US Open 4-10 September 2014
#1
Lake Mead is not the best place to be Bass fishing right now if one was pondering it. (Like me until I checked the tournament sked.)

Practice is the 4th through the 6th. The 7th is a off limits day. Actual tournament dates is the 8th through the 10th.

I guess time to figure out something else to do this weekend...

As of the end of day 2 several of the top 10 don't even have full limits. I couldn't get to the archives from last year but off the top of my head I'd have to say overall bag weights are below last years weights except for the top couple. Sounds like some tough fishing. At least from the little amount of time I have been able to watch/listen to the live weigh-ins online.

Day 2 standings:

Yeah, it's some pretty tough conditions - thunderstorm and rain on day one, then post-frontal bluebird skies for days two and three. Rough transition. It's always rough on those dudes though. Watching the weigh ins are like listening to a cd skip.

"How was your day?"
"Ugh, tough out there"

"How was your day?"
"Rough day"

"How was your day?"
"Uh, this is a tough lake"

Over and over and over. Every year.

Weights aren't too different from last year. 9 pounds a day was enough to keep you in the running, and 12 or 13 pounds a day would win it.

That's a Beast fish that Clifford got on day one though. 6.5 pound largemouth. That's got him in prime position to win, even after a less than great day 2.

I think the fish will be better adjusted to the weather change by today, so weights should come up a bit for the guys who figured the lake out by now.

Ill be watching weigh ins today from my desk. Rooting for Joe Raferty to have a stellar third day. He's sitting in 27th after day two. Great guy - taught me a lot about bassin on Mead.

Didn't get to watch much today but just read the results.

Pirch wins for the 3rd time (I think the 3rd, anyways). 31.26lbs.
