A fishing line question
#1
I purchased some 8 lb monofilament test about two years ago, and there is still a considerable amount in the spool. I am debating putting it on one of my spinning rods, however the line has been in my trunk, then garage exposed to the elements. Do I dare put the line on my reel?

If in doubt don't use it. You can also test the durability by tying one end to a fish scale and pull on the other end and watch your scale to see it the strength has been compromised. If you aren't wanting to throw it away you can always use it on a pan fish rod where you won't need as much strength in the line. At least that way it doesn't go to waste!

I'd remove about 25 to 50 feet of line until you get down to the bottom where it has not been exposed to the elements as much. good luck!

Buy braid and use the unexposed part of mono as backing. That`s what I would do.
