Are you swiveling in your seat?

<" }}^ >< Ice Fishing Tip #30

Good question, while during the process of jigging you are constantly spinning your line in circles. Even though you are fishing short distances you are still twisting your line, which can cause unwanted knotting or tangles in your line. With the cold as a added circumstance during your event I am sure that you do not want to deal with tangles in your spinning reel. Not to mention the weakening of your knot on the hook when pulling up your fish.

To prevent this misfortune there are a couple of way to relieve the problem.
1.) You can from time to time pull out the line and let it unravel itself. That is if you don’t mind interrupting your fishing with rig maintenance.
2.) You can put a little thing that I like to call a “swivel-snap” on your line then ad a short leader (3-12 inches in length) below the swivel. This will allow your jig to spin and not twist your line.

http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/MESS6438/
Lookie See what the kids are up to.
Dave T.
