Fishing Report Ucluelet, Victoria BC December 2015

Victoria Report
Halibut fishing has been good around Constance Bank and Middle Bank. Large herring, salmon bellies, mackerel or mudraker jigs are the usual baits. Halibut fishing is better than normal for this time of year. Chinook salmon fishing has been good in most spots and those producing fish are seeing many in the 5-10 lb range. Chinook salmon have been biting on 3-4 inch coyote and Silver Horde spoons. The weather has been chilly and the last couple days quite stormy. Check out Victoria fishing trips at http://www.salmoneye.net/fishing-charters-victoria-bc/.

We are going to be fishing Victoria starting February 1st until the middle of May and Ucluelet the first weekend in March until late September. If you are coming out to Ucluelet-Tofino region next summer to fish make sure you check out Tofino-Info.com for all the best beaches and trails in the area.

Ucluelet Report
November and December are usually quiet months for salmon fishing from Ucluelet but there is usually good ling cod fishing and this fall has been no different. Normally ling cod come in close to shore to spawn and it is generally pretty fast fishing for them. I don’t recommend taking ling cod over 15lbs for conservation and also the meat is not near as nice so there really isn’t any point in keeping the big ones. Lingcod can be caught on either jigs, squid or herring. Salmon are still caught during winter months so if you are in town you can always take a chance on it.

Below are some pictures from this past summer.

Thanks,
