rods and reals

hi there,<br> i am new to fishing and would like some info ... i have surf cast rod... and have been using a spinning reel on it... i also have either a bait casting reel or a conventional reel... i can not tell what it is because i bought it from a guy who didnt evenknow what he was selling... i live in ghana west africa... and there are no fishing shops... i would like to know if i can use the baitcasting reel on the same rod or i need another type of rod... if i do.. what type and what does it look like... <br><br> thanks in advance<br><br>

Saintvice it is hard to tell, without at pic, if you can use the baitcaster on the surf rod or not apart from the length of the rod butt. If you have at least 14&quot; of butt length then you should be able to use the baitcaster. <br><br>How wide would you say the baicaster is in inches? Also tell us the color of the reel, name brand and any numbers on it as well.
