Galveston Bay Fishing Report 2-10-23

Saltwater Fishing |

Fishing has been up and down for us down here in Galveston Texas. The weather this time of the year can be an issue. The cold fronts, windy days and rain cause us some problems. Over the past two weeks the weather has been tough. The fresh water run off from all the rain has been our biggest problem. It has our bays really off color.

Of course we have had some good weather days and on those days we have been doing pretty good. My customers have been catching some nice speckled trout and a few red fish. The key for me has been trying to find clean water and fishing areas were the fresh water is not too bad. I am using live shrimp fishing under a popping cork near the bottom.

The water temp has been in the low to mid 50’s and the wind varies from day to day between 5-15 mph. I am still fishing the north end of Galveston Bay, but I will be heading to lower Galveston soon. Once the water and weather starts to warm up, the fish will be more abundant and easier to catch. Well until next time, see you on the water.
